TALLAPOOSA, GA - The city of Tallapoosa is gearing up for its most spectacular Possum Drop New Year's Eve Celebration to date on December 31, 2024. This unique event, which has become one of the largest New Year's Eve celebrations in Georgia, promises an unforgettable night of music, entertainment, and community spirit.
The festivities will kick off at 6:00 PM and continue until midnight, featuring live performances by Eric Schneider as "Elvis," "Landslide," a tribute to Fleetwood Mac and "On The Border"-The Ultimate Eagles Tribute Band. As the clock strikes midnight, the crowd will witness the lowering of "Spencer," the famous taxidermied possum, from atop the historic Cain Law Office Building, built in 1891.
This year's event is expected to draw over 15,000 attendees from around the world, cementing its status as a major regional celebration. Visitors can enjoy a variety of food trucks, vendors, and a special VIP tent for those seeking a more exclusive experience.
